California native, I am. When I was seven years of age, I began Magic. My older brother and I were taken by my father to a magic school. “father/son banquet”. After dinner, a magician performed for the crowd. I must say that I was hooked!
My older brother had assembled an a “shoe box” The Magic. He was curious for two weeks, as are most children. I was the one who was able to take advantage of his lackluster interest.

Reading was something I enjoyed, so the library became a great resource center for me. My favorite books were Bruce Elliott’s Classic Secrets of Magic and Henry Hay’s Amateur Magician’s Handbook. I was also allowed to go with my parents to any Magic shows in the area. I made most of my props out of cardboard and juice cans. I would have it bought by my parents. “real trick” Birthdays and Chanukah. The trips to Hollywood, visiting Joe Berg’s Magic Studio, Bert Wheeler’s Hollywood Magic, and the Magic Shoppe at Disneyland were special events that I still remember. I also purchased tricks from the catalogs of The Top Hat Magic Company, Vic Lawston, and Haines’ House of Cards.
With some kids from the neighborhood, I put on little shows in my yard. My first. “paid” show was for my three year old cousin’s birthday. The party was held in a community park and during the festivities, my Aunt Selda’s purse was stolen. I still got paid my 3 dollar fee!
Throughout school, I continued performing for other children’s parties and I became more and more comfortable with each performance. I kept all the money I made and invested it in props that I bought from shops and catalogs. Junior high, now middle school, was the time I founded a Magic Club. The group of children put on shows for the whole school. It was during this time that I also met other Magic-loving kids. Another group was formed that met every Saturday.-You can find more information at-month. Dante Magic Club was held at various homes and community meetings rooms. We were un-Alvin Jansen (son of Dante the magician) officially sponsored the group. Our alumni were part of a wonderful group. Paul Harry Anderson and Harris. We heard from Eric Lewis, Arnold Furst and Alan Wakeling. We presented some amazing community shows and shared our passion for the arts.
Dante Magic Club continued throughout high school, and one particular event transformed my life into the fantasy I live today. Bill Larsen Jr. was the editor and publisher of Genii Magazine when I was twelve years old. He came to my home to lecture. He also spoke about plans to open a new Magic club in Hollywood. The Academy of Magical Arts, and its clubhouse, Magic Castle, were loved by all of the children. 1963 saw Mr. Larsen invite the Dante Magic Club members and our parents to dinner at his club. This “field trip” The Magic of the Magic Castle was a magical place that made it feel like magic.
I kept my friendship with Mr. Larsen, and when I turned eighteen, he asked me if I would like to be in the Close.-Gallery of the Magic Castle. Jules Lenier, Jerry Blount and I developed our first act together. It was amazing as I met some of the greatest Magicians. Just a few of the many people I met were Charlie Miller and Johnny Platt, Joe Berg, Kuda Buux, Joe Berg, Charlie Miller, Charlie Miller, Charlie Miller, Johnny Platt, Kuda bux, and Professor–Dai Vernon. I was very grateful to them for helping me grow as a performer and magician. My girlfriend, now my wife of more than 40 years, gave me my official membership in the AMA when I turned 21. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work with the likes Ron Wilson, Bruce Cervon and Mark Wilson, Nani Darnell and Francis Carlyle as well as Bob Sheets, J. C. Wagner and Steve Spill.

I was also fortunate to have worked for many A.-You can list celebrities like Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner. Also, I started performing at trade shows for companies such as IBM and Monsanto. There were also cruise ships that visited many exotic places. It was and still is a great way to live!
I have lectured around the world and released two DVD’s: In the Trenches and The Classic Force. Both DVD’s have been praised and received rave reviews. My lecture notes Take A Stroll Along With Me and Nothing Up My (Green(Sleeves have been printed multiple times. I have been awarded the Lecturer of Year and Close Award.-Academy of Magical Arts award the Up Magician of The Year for the best performers in magic.-Famous Magic Castle. Also, I was a columnist at the Magic Menu and participated on the Live The Jailhouse DVD Set.
Currently, my involvement with the AMA as well as the Magic Castle is still ongoing. I am also a member The Elders, which is a group that includes mentalists from the Southern California region. Suzanne and I are still married. We have one child, Rebecca.
