Jimmy Chin
Jimmy Chin Academy Award, for a photographer-Award-winning filmmaker and mountain sports athlete who is known for his remarkable ability to capture incredible imagery while climbing or skiing at extremely high altitudes-risk environments. He started his professional career in 1999 and was quickly recognized by outdoor brands and top expedition leaders. In 2002, he was appointed as the cinematographer of a high-profile outdoor brand.-profile National Geographic–sponsored trek across Tibet’s Chang Tang Plateau. He was part the first American ski team to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 2006. He also co-directed the film Free Solo.-E. Chai Vasarhelyi was his partner and he won an Oscar for Best Documentary Film 2019. A member of The North Face Athlete Team since 1999, he has been on numerous exploratory expeditions and completed his first ascents around the world, along with many other adventure athletes. He resides in New York City, and Jackson, Wyoming.
