I can recall working as a psychotherapist for a non-profit organization.-Profit HMO, looking after clients. They were anxious and panicked-Stress-related disorders can make you more susceptible to attack or cause you to become overwhelmed. Their doctors were unsuccessful. I could not help. I was stuck in a rut, focusing on the symptoms rather than treating each person as an individual and reinforcing my beliefs.
In desperate search of better options for my clients and myself, I entered a lunchtime meditation class with an amazing, energetic, and confident teacher. I felt more awake, more able to handle stress and more attentive to my clients after one session.
Jon Kabat, a caring and dynamic instructor, was the inspiration.-Zinn, founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.
It was over 30 years ago. Jon Kabat helped to make it happen.-Zinn, these are the same principles that I saw grow in my yoga class back home in Worcester, Mass. Jon became my instructor, and I began my own private practice. I was already seeing incredible results for my clients. I felt energetic and confident in my clinical work.
Then, in 1995, I was diagnosed by cancer. I put. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction To the test and first experience-Hand how to deal with the stress and pain of chemotherapy, and all that comes with a stem-cell transplant.
This evidenced my personal and professional experience.-Development was made possible by a method that is based on the principles of development. Mindfulness-Based Intervention for bone marrow transplants at Emory University, the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
