Karen Lee Burton, Sara Lefkowitz – Top 6 Nursing Challenges

When I was first a nurse, it was something I absolutely loved. I was proud of what I did and I loved helping my patients through difficult times.
It didn’t take long, however, for things to go downhill. I started to understand why nurses become so jaded and why so few people leave nursing. There are obvious issues like exhaustion, long hours, insufficient breaks, or exhaustion. What was worse for me was the lack of support — even downright cruelty — from my supervisors and colleagues. But it was when I realized I was no longer making a difference in my patients’ lives that I knew something had to change. |
