5 Swing Systems:

The Swing Trading Systems Elearning course, Dr. Ken Long Five swing trading systems, which he invented and traded, are taught by him.

While some of these systems can be based upon research done by analysts or traders, others are his original creations.

These strategies do not have to be conceptualized or tested in practice. These systems are based on specific rules that have been proven to work in live trading.  Dr. Long’s track record trading them over a period of several years, he has lots of anecdotal data from institutional and individual traders who attended his previous swing workshops and who trade these systems actively today.  These five swing systems are the foundation for many of Dr. Long’s intraday trades today as well.

These are the common elements of all five swing systems.

Dr. Long This article explains how the system works.

• These systems don’t require you to suspend your beliefs and mental acrobatics in order to follow them. You understand the reasons why the price should move and how to capture it.

They are considered to be the norm-This base is based on a few simple rules for entry, exits, and initial stops.

• These rules are easy to follow, and do not require advanced programming skills or degrees.

All of them have a positive outlook.

• If the rules are followed, the systems can make money over the long-term in the right market types.

While all systems work well in bull markets, some work in sideways markets and bear markets. 

(In addition, Dr. Long Describes variations of two systems that can also work in bear markets.

• The systems can be used in a variety of markets.

 SQN scores ranged between 2.1 and over 5 based on the systems’ track records.

• The system performance for all of the systems ranks from good to superb according to Dr. Tharp’s methodology.

They all have a winning percentage of 50% or more in trade.

• Losing streaks should be shorter than those with traditional low winning percentage systems.

The systems’ signals are mostly un-correlated.

• Entry signals from different systems are more important than candidates appearing in the same system.

Here’s a little more detail on each of the systems:

System 1: Channeling

Price moves away from the primary trend on a regular basis. It can be a sign of a trend’s reversal or an entry that is attractive. This system captures those resumptions of trend with a simple set of setup conditions, entry rules, and exit rules. Despite being simple, the system produces great results. Long only system, the bull market only.

System 2: Overreaction

Dr. Long Likes to hear that “the market will never react when it can overreact.” Consequently, it overreacts all the time —which offers regular opportunities for traders to profit from these overreactions. These trades however require a way for traders to determine whether price movements are normal or extraordinary. Dr. Long This system has been developed and a set of rules created by the author. These rules reap regular returns from the return. “normal” conditions.  Long Short positions and bull markets, signals are generated.

System 3: 5 Days Down

Dr. Long This system was developed and tested after Dr. Dr. Long Consider what you can do to make it easier. “systematize” that idea, and it worked—and still works quite well. Dr. Long’s long-Time students had the idea to combine three criteria. Dr. Long At one of his workshops. Dr. Long The idea was so appealing that he began trading it the week after. It combines three different setups that are built on each other to make a highly reliable trade. It’s simple to use, and—as with Dr. Long’s other systems—can be applied either mechanically or with trader discretion for some added benefit. Long Only, bull and sideways.

System 5: Washout

This system monitors extreme reactions measured on both a long and short time.-Term and long-term basis, but there are important safety measures in place to ensure that you don’t get caught trying to catch a falling knife. The system generally exits trades in a matter of days and, in many instances, benefits from a following.-on or continuation trade. Dr. Long He never teaches only the material from his workbook. He talks about trading strategies, new systems ideas, research stages, and new ways to trade. “production” systems and the development of system in general. He will also touch on ideas for taking swing system signals to find shorter-term trades, though, at the system level, he will only be teaching swing systems in this workshop. Part I Section 1, Baseline Lectures:

In this series, Dr. Long The topics covered range from adult learning theory to trading principles and market types.  You will find about two hours worth of streaming lectures, and about ten documents that you can download.

Part I Section 2, Overreaction System and Channeling System

Dr. Long In just over an hour and a quarter of lectures, you will learn the logic and rules behind the first two trading systems.  In addition, there are about a half dozen documents relating to this section available for download which includes the written rules for each system and a number of case study setup charts or completed trade charts for each system.

Part I, Section 3 Trading Strategies:

Dr. Long The discussion covers a variety of trading topics, including how to understand system results and how to improve system performance.  He shares valuable concepts and highly practical exercises.

Part I Section 4, Bonus Section

Dr. Long evolved from a mechanical swing trader into a rule-based discretionary intraday trader over a period of about ten years.  Many of the signals he learned in this course are still used by him for day trades.  He shares his knowledge with traders who are interested. “turbocharge” You can either set up swing trades or make day trades using them.  This is called swing trading. “Swing trading – one day at a time.”  He also provides several strategies (not a full-blown rule set for a trading system) that work well on an intraday basis.  This bonus section is not for traders who aren’t interested or unable to manage their positions during market hours.

Part II, 5 Day Down System, 551w System and Washout System

Part II of this course will be taught by Dr. Long He explains the trading rules and provides information about how they trade.  He lectures for about a half an hour on each system, and there are nearly ten documents related to the systems available for download including the rules as well as case studies for each.
