Here’s how the effect works: Three spectators are invited to watch you while you make a prediction. Show three people your notepads, and they will flip through the pages. A length of cord is attached to each pad. This allows you to pass each pad around the neck to your spectators. Assign the end spectator to raise his arm as the ‘bandit’ arm. Then instruct them to pull down their arm so that they can reach for their pads and open any pages.

Spectator 1 pulls the arm down and opens his pad to display the three bars. Spectator 2, on the other hand, opens his pad and shows the three bars. This is a good start. However, spectator 3 does not open his pad and opens the cherry box. It seems all is lost. But, if you look at your prediction and take out what’s in it, you can show a prediction that matches exactly the outcome!
