This is for the person who reads it.

It’s Vinh This is what I’m doing. On a Sunday afternoon, I am sitting here at my computer while sipping my cup of black coffee. It’s bitter but I love it. While I try to write website copy, which I am horrible at, it’s a great feeling. To tell you more about this course, I’m trying to figure out what to write in the introduction section. All I can think is to start by writing about why this course is great and why you are such a great teacher. A part of me is saying, “GROSS VINH.” START AGAIN AND REMOVE ALL THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN. Welcome to my mind.

Let’s get started…

Either a friend told you or you saw it online. You’re here because communication and presentation skills have been something that you’ve always wanted to improve. It’s something that you feel has been limiting your personal and professional life. This is something I feel.

Growing up in Asia has been challenging but also amazing. Each cultural upbringing comes with its own pros and cons. The lack of communication, affection and expressiveness in the family is one of the biggest con’s of Asian culture. Although this may not be true for all Asian families it is definitely true for my family. Because of my environment, it was difficult for me to communicate and I lost affection. I didn’t know how to communicate. Communication skills are not taught. It’s not in High School, it’s never taught at University, and it’s certainly not in our professional lives. It is a skill we learn on our own. It’s also interesting that, even though it is not something we are taught in school, this skill is expected to be a part of our professional lives.

I don’t blame my culture. I don’t blame my parents. I don’t blame the school system. I can’t blame anyone else for my lackluster ability. I have all the power. 2011 was the year that I took charge and made the decision to make this my life. I’m not going to let my poor communication skills hold me back any longer. I knew I had value to share with the world but the world wasn’t aware of what that value was.

Here’s the punchline to my story: the world wasn’t blind, I was invisible. You can be seen by learning how to communicate effectively.

To learn how I could use my voice properly, I began to take vocal lessons. I also started taking theatre classes to improve my body. These were not things I did to be an actor or singer. This is me in 2011 when I started my journey to improve the communication skills. I can only bare to show you 20 seconds of this *CRINGE*

This was me seven years ago. This was after just one year of hard work. It is amazing how difficult it was to improve my communication skills. It is not something I was born with. I had to create my foundations from scratch. What can we do to change the way we speak? Yes. They can. I’m proof. My proof is not the only one. You’ll see amazing communication from my students by just making minor adjustments. It’s amazing to see how even the smallest of changes can change your perceptions. Here’s a great example.

Brittany is just amazing. It completely changed her delivery after she made the small adjustment of slowing down her speech. This is what excites us as teachers! It’s not about making huge changes to the way we communicate, but it is about small tweaks! This video is just one of many that you will find in the course. I hope it inspires you to do something.

Based on my Stage Workshop, this online course was created. Because many people want to take my class but are unable due to geographical limitations, I decided to create an online version. You can now take the online course and then feel inspired to go to one my workshops. I will make sure that my team and myself deduct the cost of this online course from your workshop tickets.
