This course will cover a watch equipped with a Valjoux 23 Chronograph Caliber and an additional calendar and hour counter. It is also known as the Valjoux72c.
The Valjoux movement shown in this course is from the 1950’s and it is the grandfather of all modern chronograph movements.
It first appeared in 1920. Since then, many brands have used it, including Rolex, Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin.
The basic mechanism of most chronographs is the same, although there are some variations. We will also go over these variations. This course will teach you how to adapt the information you learn to other chronographs, such as Venus and Lemania, Landon, etc.
The Vintage Chronograph This course is designed for students and watchmakers who are proficient in the basic skills needed to make simple watches. The course will allow the student to move up to the next level and learn how to work with complex watches, such as the calendar mechanism and chronograph.
To be successful with these types of mechanisms, you will need a completely new skill set. You should avoid many potential pitfalls when working with them. These pitfalls can be avoided with the right techniques and guidance. We’ll walk you through the complicated watch step-by step. This will give you, as a collector or student, rare insight into complicated watches.
