The Story Behind the 5D FilmSchool
My name is Alex Fox. I’m a film-school grad who’s spent the last ten years working in the crazy world of professional video production. I rose up the ladder from a cable technician to become a director.-Puller, audio operator and cameraman. Editor, producer, director, producer, and editor. Along the way, I’ve learned a tremendous amount about what separates professional productions from amateur schlock. I’ve been involved in a lot of projects, and I’ve watched, listened, tried … and learned why some succeed and some fail.
I created 5DFilmMaking.com because I see the problems that aspiring filmmakers – particularly photographers who are new to video – are having, trying to take their existing knowledge and turn it into successful DSLR filmmaking. Vincent LaForet is a great example of an aspiring filmmaker who intuitively understands the medium and creates amazing work. However, they are not the only one who can do incredible work if they just know the basics of video production.
You don’t need a ton of gear and a huge crew. You just need to know what you’re doing.
That’s why I sat down and poured four years of film school and ten years of real-5DFilmSchool DVD – World experience
I’m not going to give you a typical Internet hard sell about “secret knowledge.” There are no secrets … but there are principles, techniques and practices that have been developed over a long period of time, by a lot of very smart people. There are ways to save your time, get great work done quickly, and save money. It’s the way I’ve done BizLearning commercials, marketing videos, web promos, and hundreds of other projects over the last ten years. And I’d like to share that knowledge with you.
