In 2015, Karmaloop.com was acquired by an investment company. Drew Sanocki (the instructor for this course) joined as the CMO because he found that not much was being done.
Karmaloop had alienated its vendors and core merchandise was lost. Loyal customers were leaving without the products they paid for.-bankruptcy… it was bad.
Drew knew that he should focus on three things: acquisition, average value (AOV), repeat buyers.
Acquiring customers of highest value
Karmaloop’s most valuable customers were gone and, as a result of the heavy investment in promotion pre-Bankruptcy left only bargain shoppers.
Customers who only purchase on promo are, you know. Drew’s biggest task was acquiring more high-Value customers through Strategic Facebook and Instagram funnels
Boosting the average value of orders (AOV)
Not surprisingly, bargain buyers don’t have a high average order value.
Drew added a few to boost the AOV. key email campaigns: Onboarding, abandoned cart, custom campaigns for those with high AOVs, and post-Purchase cross-Selling and upselling
More repeat customers
The Karmaloop bargain shoppers were only buying when the item was on sale. Drew had to change this.
If someone hadn’t purchased in 30, 60, 90 days, Drew’s win back email campaign would kick in with an ascending offer to keep customers coming back.
One year later, Everything was rearranged.
They were acquiring high.-Once again, value customers were being valued. Repeat orders were increasing and customer lifetime values were steadily growing. Drew made Karmaloop profitable again in less than one year.
