She has been a chairperson or participant on numerous national committees relating to wound and ostomycare, including the WOCN Certification Board examination committee and the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel guidelines panel. She has spoken at national and regional conferences as part of the United Ostomy Associations of America. She received the UOAA Ostomy Nursing of the Year award in 2008, and, in 2011, Convatec Great Comebacks Nurses of the Year award.
