Henry Akins – Cross Side Attacks
Kron Gracie Knows.
Rickson Gracie Knows.
His Black Belts āBlack Belt ONLY Seminarsā Know.
And THESE Guys & Gals Know
Rickson is a different kind of person than the average Joe.
And in turn⦠just like every other position we see, engage with and refer to, this position is treated differently as well⦠from here forward It not āside mountā its āCross Sideāā¦
Iām not saying this to debate semantics, I just to avoid any confusion.
What do most people say? āside mountāRickson, me, and my students say āCross Sideā Inside this Cross Side Attacks Module youāll get to see first hand WHY we see the position DIFFERENTLY!
This is the most commonly asked question about the top Cross Side (side control) is⦠āHenry how do I FINISH more from side control when I get there?ā This question is still asked by me to this day, and not only by white belts.
The answer is pretty simpleā¦
Have two hands available to attack with and have the ability to pour suffocating pressure onto your opponent WHILE youāre attacking
The biggest problems I see with most people when they get to the top of side control that STOPS them dead in their tracks from finishing areā¦
- Minimum 1 or BOTH hands must be OCCUPIED to squeeze and/or control their opponent. If you donāt have hands (unless youāre the super hero they call Kyle Maynard) you canāt finish.
- Both knees should be on the ground. If all your weight is on your knees then your weight isnāt smothering your opponent.
- Ā People will be willing to give up their side control position in exchange for a lower position. If you donāt want the position bad enough you wonāt finish from that position.
