I have hired more salespeople than I can count (not sure how much, but it’s likely close to 500).
I’ve made some massive f**k ups in my career as it relates to sales people.

I made mistakes that cost me millions of dollars, and missed out on opportunities worth tens of thousands of dollars.
It didn’t stop me from cracking my code to help my clients and myself get out of sales, as well as achieving huge growth.

The biggest problem with agency’s hiring for sales is not…
…because sales people don’t understand digital.
…because you know your product better than anyone else and nobody can sell as good as you.
And not
…because good salespeople are just “hard to come by these days.”

But you’re wrong.
The reason that agency’s have a difficult time hiring for sales is because of one big thing…
…your margins.
Yep. That number at the bottom of your P&L. It’s not the top.
We look at companies that sell SAAS and tech products that have huge sales teams. They seem to scale inexorably.
This is what we want for our agency, but it’s not something we see when we look around at other agencies in the area (unless we look at those who have learned from me).
In tech companies (and the like), they have really high profit margins—think 70%, 80%, and even 90%.
To be both profitable as well as scalable, you don’t need to be successful in almost any aspect of growth.
They might have salespeople making $150,000 per annum and only $400,000 in revenues.
It is supported by their margins.
Blind, they can throw rocks in fields.-Folded at night while drunk, and hit a salesperson capable of doing those numbers.
But how can you?
I’ve worked with many agencies over the years and I’m not familiar with any agency whose net margins exceed 10 percent.-25-45% net profit range.
So, if you introduce a salesperson that can only produce 3X what they are paid then that is 33% of your revenue right there.
While you’re losing money, a SAAS-based company would prosper.
So, what’s the key to salespeople for agencies?
YOU NEED TO GET THEM TOÂ 7-10X THE PRICE OF WHAT THEY PAY.
You need to be able to put $1 in and get out at least $7—minimum.
It’s what it takes.
And here is the unfortunate reality…
Most likely, you don’t know where to find them.
Not your fault, per se, but still your reality.
Hence, why you are here with me…
The secret is incredibly simple, yet likely the hardest thing you’ve ever done.

—MANAGING—
How do I lead someone I have never met? How should I measure these numbers? What can I do with the numbers? This is where accountability comes in. Micro manage or hands off? What is my salesperson’s role? Do we meet regularly? Do I allow them to have complete autonomy?
These are the questions you need the answers to.
It is important to have a process that you are able to follow.
