Some of our readers, students and audience members are in their senior years. They’re living the best life possible. I can’t stress enough how very important it is stay active and to be a contributor. You will be able to become a centurion, someone who lives past 100 years old, once you understand that being needed is fuel. You will live a long and fulfilling life if you feel connected, that your life matters, and that you are useful and important.
So often I see people begin to look towards retirement and think they’re going to be more self-centered. They envision living their lives in their own way and getting more time for themselves. This shift is from contributing to self.-Directed can cause you to lose the connection humans need with others in meaningful ways. Your life will eventually feel less meaningful and empty.
You wouldn’t think about retiring at 65 if you lived 200 or 150 more years. The reason for this is that people lose momentum and meaning once they’ve done all the traveling, partying and ranching (or whatever the fantasy of a great life is). It becomes a race for the ultimate goal of getting it done by a certain age. It is a common refrain I hear: “we’re getting old gotta get our living in while we still can” (and these folks are in their 50’s or 60’s goodness! Before you know it, they are convinced that this is true. They become more sedentary and less active and for that reason The body doesn’t continue to produce energetically or chemically, even spiritually the dynamic conditions for a long life.
Awakening the Healthy Human This book is fun and simple to read. It will help you remember how to make your life run smoothly.
