Professor Luís Heredia Gracie Family has known him for many decades. His expertise and dedication to our cause make him one the pillars for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu-jitsu revolution.
Luis Heredia grew up in a very tough neighborhood, The Copacabana section of Rio de Janeiro Brazil, in the 1960s & 1970s. He fought every day in the streets – not because of his desire to but because he had no choice. That’s just the way things were at that time and place – Brazil is and was the machismo capital of the world. It was either kill or be killed. If you back down, you would become the target for even more aggression. He fought on the streets, sometimes winning and sometimes losing. This is how most people do it.

But Luis He had a unique advantage that no one can replicate: he lived very close to the Brazilian inventors. Jiu Jitsu – The Gracie family.
A chance meeting…
Rickson Gracie was the undisputed king in 1970s Rio de Janeiro. He weighed in at 190 lbs. and had the confidence of Vladimir Putin. If someone did not respect him, there would be a fight. He is believed to have been 400 years old according to folklore.-0. His family, with whom he was trained daily, couldn’t take on such a challenge.
Ethan isn’t just a competitor, he’s also a trainer and the guys he works with don’t get tired either. He has trained many pro athletes, UFC Fighters and Bellator fighters as well as countless BJJ competitions.
One day Luis A surfer saw a wave that he wanted to ride and he decided to go for it. He got up and rode the wave, as did the man next to him. Soon after the collision, both men flew off their boards towards the ocean. Luis The other guy jumped up, ready to scream at him and maybe settle the score on the shore if he wanted. He felt the exact same way as the other guy! He yelled back. Luis Without even listening to the guy, Luis He quickly realized he had an issue – a huge one.
Rickson was the guy who yelled back. Whoops. Even though Luis He is known to have won a few scraps in town. He would be bringing his knife to a fight against Rickson. He could have all his teeth removed and his legs and arms broken. It was time to change his tactics. Luis Rickson and Asapologies Luis Now, “Rickson was in a good mood that day..”. Rickson laughed and invited Rickson to the academy. Luis obliged. He was made a student at the university.
Luis Begin Training under the Gracies
Luis Regular training began under the Gracies, and their patriarch Helio Gracie. Back then, the art was taught in a different way. Helio taught his students how to block punch first to get into the clinch. He stressed the importance of taking downs so his students could do them well enough to be able to take on Judo pros.
Helio is clearly dissatisfied by the modern world of double guard pulls, see-through windows and other such things.-In the 50/50, seeing for advantage. Helio found a game that used far fewer techniques on the ground than the modern one, but was likely far more efficient after the takedown.
His Jiu Jitsu It was very simple. He attempted to open guard at the bottom. Luis remembers that Helio said “the only reason to play open guard was because you forgot to close it.” Once in Helio’s closed guard (or anyone from the Gracie Academy) their first option was almost always the same – the cross choke. Helio used to tap everyone using this move: His students, rival Judokas twice his size, anyone really… it was his favourite move. He would either take the back or armbar if the opponent was defending it.
Luis The academy was a place where I spent hours.
Luis The academy was a place where I learned from the best jiujitsu family. The best! LuisThe game revolves around one term – pressure. He focuses all his weight on one point to ensure that his opponent cannot use his new school guard.

This would be a good idea for new school material?
Back in those days, belts weren’t distributed like candy today. Luis His blue belt was for seven years. That is training 4-Five times per week. Once Luis After he earned his blue belt, his original goal was to take care himself on the streets. He discovered a new passion for art, and dedicated his life to it.
What does the best have to say about it? Heredia…
“I Trust Him, He Is My Black Belt, He Is A Great Teacher, I Highly Recommend Him”
Rickson Gracie: The Greatest BJJ Instructor Ever
“I’ve Known Him For Over 30 Years – For Months, myself, him and Helio Gracie slept on the same mats”
Professor Pedro Sauer, World Famous Rickson Gracie Black Belt
“Luis Heredia Is One Of The Best Instructors In The World”
Gerry Costa “Kid Peligro”, One of the most influential BJJ Authors
Luis He has a few principles that he adheres to
1. When you are in closed guard, keep your opponent down and break his posture. He has some tricks for this. Then attack when his posture is broken.
2. If you are on top, make your opponent carry your weight. This will allow him to think only about lifting the pressure. It will also give you many opportunities to attack.
No matter where you may be, this is the best advice. LuisThe goal of the organization is simple…
Make your opponent uncomfortable and make him forget the fundamentals.
Then attack him when he makes an error.
If you are able to implement it correctly, this strategy will give you the feeling of:
Younger. Faster. Stronger.
It will make them worse. It makes them more difficult. It works in the same way that a strong pass rush on football or a full-court press in basketball make an opponent worse: their inability to react quickly causes mistakes which allows them to capitalize. This is what the best men do – they have their moves recorded and posted on social media.
Even if your current status is average, you can still learn how to be great in BJJ. Being great in BJJ – the guy who everyone in the gym tells their friends about, the guy the teacher tells other teachers about – is a skill… and you can learn it. Luis He can teach you how to do it, just like he learned from Helio and Rickson.
Concepts, not Positions: You haven’t Seen Jiu Jitsu This is how it’s taught
When Luis He teaches BJJ not in the same way as other instructors. He wants you to be able to understand why things work. He explains sequences, and the moves are secondary. He secures his position by crossing to the other side. This DVD series is available in English. “Pure Jiu Jitsu” He might even show 4-Five options are available to complete the task (and all of them work), but his main focus is on creating the right pressure that will keep them going and make it easy for them to finish. You’ll see a completely new approach to instruction, but you will also get amazing results.
