Michael Neill – The Advanced Course 2020
We’ll be exploring three brand new themes as part of our three week deep dive into the inside-out understanding:
Week One The Original Point
An acquaintance approached me after an event a few years back. “old-timer” Syd Banks had been a mentor to many of her students back in the day. She asked me, kindly and conspiratorially, if I would be open to some feedback. Her words in my ear have changed the way that I teach and think about the principles.
“There are a lot of very well-meaning people teaching a lot of wonderful things that really are helpful,” She spoke. “But it’s not what Syd was up to.”
In our first week together we’ll do our best to go back to what I see as the original “point” of the principles – that is, the direction to which they are pointing. You can see through the illusions of our Thought.-created realities, we get see through to the deepest part of ourselves – our divine, impersonal nature. To paraphrase Syd: This is the world where spirit dwells. “We are not God, but God we are.”
Week 2 The Space Before Thought
The fields of mindfulness and meditation are experiencing a significant resurgence over the past decade. Because when people can temporarily silence their anxious thoughts and overactive imaginations, it allows them to gain instant access to inner wisdom, common sense and a deep sense of well-being.-being.
What if all these advantages were available right now? Without having to practice any ancient skills or learn anything new?
During our second week together, we’ll look to what it actually takes to quiet our own minds and rest more in the infinite space before thought – the place that Syd and spiritual teachers throughout the ages called “home”.
Week 3: Keeping it Real

There’s a deeper feeling that comes with looking in the direction of these principles – a kind of inner awareness I imagine as being similar to a wire somehow becoming conscious of the electricity running through it. People love this feeling, and once they’ve touched it and associated it with learning about the principles, they often want to learn even more. But because the principles themselves are so basic and our intellects love complexity, those of us who teach about them in the world have a tendency to speak as much or more about the implications of a principles-We can have a more principle-based understanding of life than we do about the principles. Yet, we are able to see the implications of living in Mind, Consciousness and Thought.-The further we get away from the feeling that brought us to the conversation, the more reality is created.
In our final week together, we’ll dive in to the world of deeper feelings that draws people into and back to this conversation on a regular basis with the deliberate intention of “keeping it real” – living from the best and deepest place inside us on a day to day basis regardless of whether or not we can ever explain it to ourselves or anybody else.
Here’s how it works:
We’ll meet by video conference for an hour each day, Monday to Friday, at 8am pacific/11am eastern/4pm UK. I’ll get us started with a few “insight catalysts” and then we’ll dive in to our exploration, sharing what we see and don’t see with the intention of seeing more deeply and bringing both lightness and depth to our exploration.
By the end of the three weeks, you’ll be seeing the Three Principles in action everywhere, and instead of studying the implications in theory you’ll have the opportunity to experience them at play in your daily life.
All sessions will have audio recordings and will be streamed or downloaded. We’ll also have an exclusive Facebook group for participants that will open up on the 29th of June.
