What The 6-Figure Passive Author Business Looks Like
This is a screenshot of my royalties from last month (October 2023) from my non-fiction books I sell passively:
As you can see, it takes more than one book to hit 6 figures in royalties (the way I do it anyways). For me, I started hitting $8,500/month around book 7.
But I don’t do any additional marketing than the first 30 days after launch.
These books are NOT under the Peaceful Profits brand name, so they don’t get a big email list mailing to push sales. I spend $0 per year on paid ads for these books.
This is purely organic, leveraging platforms, and publishing semi consistently.
So, that’s how the monthly income works, but take a look at this…
Here is all of the combined royalties earned from just one of my books I published back in 2013:
As you can see, over the lifetime of that book (Feb 6, 2013 until now) it has earned more than $146,000.
It also took me almost 10 years to get all $146,000, but I’ll likely get another $146,000 over the next 10 years… without doing much of anything except keeping it listed and letting people buy it.
This is the core principle of how I make this work for me.
Low, sustained effort over time = passive royalties that will pay me forever.
Sometimes though, you have a breakout success and you can collect a lot more royalties alot sooner.
Here’s an example of another book I published more recently, in 2022:
Normally, I’ll make around $800 – $2,000/month per book.
Sometimes, like with this book, I’ll make around $4,000 to as high as $6,500/month per book.
Some books do really well, some do ok, and the rest trickle in month after month paying for gas money and date night once a week.
If I was smart, I’d devote more time to writing more and more books. Fortunately/unfortunately, I have 3 other companies to look after so I can only work on this stream of income occasionally.
I can’t even give you an amount of hours I spend working on this each week because there can be months that go by that I don’t even check the sales dashboard. Like I said, it’s work upfront but once it’s set up it takes care of itself more or less.
Who Does This Work For?
If you don’t like writing, I wouldn’t recommend this as a side income.
You really have to want to make good books. In fact, in the course I’m about to share with you, we really focus a lot on making sure you write a book that can market itself. We’ll talk about how to know in advance if your book is going to be good, and we’ll even talk about how to make sure you are writing books that sell each other.
In fact, we aren’t going to be talking a lot about marketing at all.
That’s because you don’t need to market a lot if you write the right book the right way.
A good friend of mine published just one book, sells the eBook for $39 and makes more than $11,000 per month in sales… just from that one book.
How?
He wrote the right book the right way.
So yeah, you gotta want to write good books.
Also, a key to writing good books is liking what you write.
You don’t have to write books that tie back to your business. I don’t. My books are in a deep passion niche. I enjoy writing them which makes it easier to do.
I’m sure you could struggle through different topics, but you really don’t need to. You’ll be more profitable if you find something you enjoy and write about that. I’ll show you how in the course.
So, if you like to write and you want to write about stuff you like, this can work for you. You don’t really need any other qualifications. You don’t have to be an advanced business owner. You don’t need to have backend offers or even a website.

It’s a big claim but I’m proof that it works.
