Assignment 3: Polar Patterns and Stereo Configurations: Every recording engineer should perform this test. However, very few actually do. Each microphone has a “polar pattern”, which determines their sensitivity, frequency balance, and direction of operation. You can also record stereo with two microphones in a variety of configurations. We will need a professional demonstration, regardless of how many mics are available, to determine the mic’s polar patterns or the most important stereo configurations.
Module 04: Equalization

Music and recording are an essential part of my job in the health service, which I have had since years ago. It is not a way to supplement earned income, but a withdrawal from professionalism. Attained professional quality has become a requirement due to growing investment and increasing interest. Audio Masterclass offered me only the best and most affordable options of world-class standards.
The book “How to set up a Pro Home Recording Studio” [by Audio Masterclass] I was able to locate this information and more about hardware and software. “my way” In the jungle of possibilities, it actually had a savings effect.
My greatest value was the assessment of practical assignments. I was a novice and it was easy to think that the finished work is great. You can also get additional information from the comments you make.
It’s very comforting to always have a variety of audio examples. Even after the course, I still use some of them to benchmark quality.
The most special experiences along the way of the course were moments of approaching the presumed limits of creative possibilities… stepping beyond… and finding that there is something more out there. And this kind of training may have implications that are not immediately obvious, but may prove to be of great importance in any intellectually demanding/competitive situation of life. This is my biggest gain at Audio Masterclass.

I was searching online for an audio school that could provide me with the missing information. I also needed someone who could tell me. “this is good, here you were wrong, you made such a mistake …”In fact, I needed a guide! Audio Masterclass was my answer.
Although I was intrigued by the information, there was a fear in my heart. I was afraid that it would be only theoretical education. Audio Masterclass was a site I looked at several times.
Audio Masterclass was the best because I found it to be the most consistent. From the very first lesson I realized that I was right! Yes, there is a theoretical teaching but it’s really practical and very effective. The lessons are clear and without unnecessary details. What is being taught is the most effective immediately.
Following the 12 modules suggested, I can say that I was able a deepening my theoretical and practice knowledge: 1. I used microphones either instinctively or empirically, which brought me more happiness. Now, I am familiar with their characteristics and know how to use them. I have learned a lot about synthesis, electro-acoustics, and acoustics. And You know what? I found it easy to understand the material even though I wasn’t very good at maths. The explanations were so clear that I didn’t have any problems understanding them. 3. It is important to know your work tool.
I can confirm that Audio Masterclass is very useful to me. I am now able to address potential issues and understand why devices may react in certain ways. 4. Audio Masterclass is something I keep in mind every time I work with audio files. I trust what I have been taught, both in a practical and intellectual sense. This last point is important because you should not be deceived. The correctors are able to hear every detail and will not allow anything to pass.
Final thoughts: If there is anything I can offer students who wish to make the most of the teaching offered, it would to follow these steps: a. For the theory, don’t hesitate to read the course several times, complete the questionnaire, and then read the course again. b) Practice is more than just performing the exercise. Once the corrections have been made, you can practice the exercise with different audio files. This is the best way to master the material. Audio Masterclass should not limit itself to one module. Instead, I would suggest giving several exercises before validating the level. This is something I am not able to do in practice. This is what I have experienced with Audio Masterclass.
You know what? Audio Masterclass is a game changer in my life. I would be happy to refer it if it were to be redone!

Hi David [Gatis refers to David Mellor, Course Director of Audio Masterclass]Thank you so much for my enrollment in your course. I am very pleased that I have graduated!
Although I was able to make my decision before making my purchase, I also did extensive research online about the course. At that time, I had just finished my studies at America Audio Insitute. But, it wasn’t enough to allow me to move on to the next level. Audio Masterclass was what I needed. I found only one review on Google. It was written by someone who said: “you won’t get what you as an engineer really need etc, it lacks of deep dive in subject… this and that….” – I thought to myself: “well… maybe this guys is all wise or he is not opened for new experience and knowledge, or he was a bad student”. I was unsure what the outcome would be so I decided to take a chance.
Practical assignment is the first thing I found most logical. “everything”! It’s a major flaw in many online-schools, such as the America Audio Insitute and the Detroit Recording institute. It’s a great learning opportunity to send your work for constructive feedback.
Next: I received feedback on tasks every time. I learned the task first by reading your written feedback. That was the most valuable to me. It’s also great to feel that someone is paying attention to detail and listening to what you do.
Concerning content: The course structure is similar to other courses, but the content is vastly different! And This also refers to the language, which is how you describe things and detail. This is important for me because I don’t come from an english-speaking country but it’s easy to understand the information. Although there are many talented recording engineers, not all have the ability to teach others. But you can still teach! (I mean it, especially when I compare my previous courses on America Audio Insitute Detroit Recording institute).
Another example of student audio: – Very good at understanding what to do and what to avoid. You might feel that you don’t have anything to compare your work with. “oh, yeah, great record!”But, when you listen to others…hmmm it becomes a challenge. It’s like setting benchmarks.
And Yes. I am a small studio owner with limited budget and no opportunity to try top-end mics. However, the files that contain pre-amp and mic sample files are fantastic. Now I can hear how U87 sound! : )
Concerning improvements, I have nothing to add. I feel professional because I’m a part of this course.
Overall, I have learned a lot. But what is most important to me? Having many friends. “aha” Moments have brought me to a completely different place in my thinking about mastering, mixing, and recording. It’s the greatest achievement of my life! …and I want more!
Okay, thank you again for everything. I received the certificate. It’s an important milestone in my journey towards becoming a GRAMMY! : )
P.S. P.S.
P.S.S. I have also attached my photo from my home studio.
All the best.
Gatis Pastars, Latvia
