Paul Brook – Low Cost Hard Hitting Mentalism
Paul Brook Two-day course, focusing on only low.-Cost mentalism that packs a punch.Â
The first day Paul I will share five close friends with you-up mentalism routines that will wow the people you perform for yet won’t break the bank:
- Sharprediction – After a drawing duplication the mentalist asks the participant to look at the pen she has just drawn with and printed on the barrel is the item she had just drawn. Participant can keep the pen.Â
- Copenhagen Cover-Up – Using just two business cards and a pen the participant goes on an imaginary journey with the performer only to find that the performer has predicted the exact locations that were freely chosen.
- Password Generator – Amazingly the participant correctly guesses the password that the performer has written down. An envelope, that has been visible at all times, is opened to reveal the participant’s private password written upon it. Â
- Don’t Be Alarmed – Ask participants to identify the time that the performer wakes up in the morning.-up. Actually, they are required to be precise. The performer’s phone is unlocked by the participant and the alarm time correctly matches their guess. The performer then turns his attention to the participant and asks what time they wake up.-Up in the Morning
- Mistress Memory – The person is asked to recall two different shapes that are placed inside one another. For proof purposes, a photograph is taken of the participant holding the drawn shapes. Now, the performer appears to use hypnotic language in order to make the participant forget about the shapes. The participant becomes unable to recall the shapes correctly after a while and is photographed with photographic evidence.
Day two will look at the cost-effective stage effects and parlour effects that you can use as part of your set or in case of emergency.
- The Brook Test – A participant inspects an unimpressed book and selects a word from it. The participant holds the book while selecting the word. It can be anywhere, but the performer can correctly guess it. Â
- Monosemy – A paper ball is thrown at the audience. Those who catch it are asked to shout letters of alphabet as the performer records them. The audience selects five letters from the selection and asks them to try to make the largest possible word using those letters. The audience receives the exact word by opening the paper ball that was passed around.Â
- The Shortest Story – Three audience members are invited to join the performer on the stage and a prediction is made to one member of the audience. A well is written on a piece of paper.-Each sentence in a known film is reduced to three sentences. A blank space represents a missing word. Participants on stage choose a word to fill the empty spaces. They are then encouraged to create a ridiculous and nonsensical response.-Sensibility of the outcome. However, the prediction is open and contains a hand-Drawn movie poster matching their selections Â
- Authentication – They say a strong password requires two random words and a number. A member of the audience inspects three empty envelopes and displays them on stage. The envelopes are then displayed on stage. ‘First Word’, ‘Second Word’ ‘Number’ They can be written on. The performer writes down the contents on a piece if paper and then inserts it in each envelope. The audience creates a password using two random numbers and two random words. When the envelopes open, the contents match perfectly with the password.
- Connecting the Dots – A member of the audience randomly places 30 dots on a sheet paper. Then, another member of the audience numbers them. Another audience member is asked connect any ten dots in a number sequence, and then to examine the shape and make a drawing. After this, the participant will focus on the performer, who draws the image randomly.
Many tips, tricks, and subtleties will be shared along the way that will allow you to transform your mentalism performances. Don’t forget your pipe-dreams at the door and let’s get serious.
