Psychological Proof That We Can Look At The Same Thing & See It Differently
Richard Gregory, a psychiatrist, conducted The Hollow Face Experiment. He believed that visual perception depends on top.-Processing at the bottom
Top-Also known as conceptual processing, down processing is also called “conceptual”-When we begin to see the whole picture, this is called driven processing.
We use our past experiences, beliefs, knowledge and prior expectations to guess what we see.
In other words, when we see something all we’re really doing is making calculated assumptions.
Here’s how his experiment worked.
