Sarah – DIKSHA: Initiation Into Tantric Arts
“Initiation is the container, the holding, that makes our meetings holy.”
Dr. Martin Shaw
DIKSHA: Initiation; consecration; one-devotion.
According to Robert Moore, initiation is a ritualized, direct experience of enormous, primeval forces that live within and near the psyche. This, according to the ancestors. “the Great Self,” Something vast and numinous, with more energy than we could ever require. The Great Self is known by many names and lives in the mystery.
Dr. Martin Shaw

Diksha means initiation to the depths within yourself. It’s a creative, mystical, spiritual immersion, a mentorship program that is soulful, and a collaborative, intimate learning experience. Diksha is about education and exploration of tantric and yogic philosophy, practice, and theory.
In the esoteric branch of tantra known as Shakta Tantra, devotees honor Devi, the Mother of Creation, with the understanding that Devi dispels shakti (power/energy of creation) & therefore comprises all of Creation.
Thus, everything is revered deeply as an expression of the Goddess — including desires, primal instincts, emotions, erotic yearnings, dreams, what sulks in the guts, sensation, & the dark tendrils of shadow.
The work of the tantrika is to embrace the human experience, as it is all a reflection on the Goddess.
Diksha calls upon you to encounter your experience, seize magic, & catch poems. This work entails ritual, spiritual endeavor, story medicine, & creative modalities.
This work is supported by a powerful container for shakti: a tribe of tantrikas & inspiring comrades committed to fiercely embodying their work & walking the path with you.
Tantra philosophy says that every desire is a devata in action. The devatas keep us incarnated & tied to the field of action, but they simultaneously crave liberation through us. This is part the spell-A binding dance between Shiva, Shakti and God, God and Creation or the Dreamer, and the Dreamer.
The tantrika knows when she feels drawn to something and that it is worth paying attention. The key to liberation lies in yearnings. She knows that her heart’s movements are the work and play of divinity.
These words might conjure up a similar feeling of curiosity. Perhaps a dream is crawling in your rib cage. You might hear a story whispering in your ear.
This is your invitation. This is your invitation. To be found. To be free.

Hi, Iโm Sarah!
I direct the Tantric Arts Collective, a virtual group that connects individuals to their divine wisdom through creative and experiential tantric practices. I want to facilitate a space that is inclusive and transformative.
In the past ten years, I have studied with indelible teachers who are committed to holistic healing modalities. This passion led me to study with Manju Jois, son from Patthabi Jois and the American Sanskrit Institute. I’ve been studying Shakta Tantra in India and have received diksha from Swami Satyasangananda Saraswati in 2019. I also learned women-centered practices as a child caregiver to new moms and Marriage & Family Therapist (in training), and wrote fervently into my own wound as a woman whose voice sometimes felt swallowed up by patriarchal structures, including (gasp!) the ashtanga yoga system.
I’m a blogger, writer, poetess and diarist. I received my BFA at Goddard College, which is the only school that doesn’t give out grades for my thesis entitled “The Implacable I: The Case for the Personal, The Call for the Woman Writer.” Also, I have been sober for ten and a half years.-Step recovery, and I have taught extensively in addiction treatment centres. I offer a trauma orientation-Information, attachment theory, humanistic, compassion, and informed care-driven approaches.
I will support personal expression, creativity, and exploration. I feel deeply driven to create safe spaces and containers for connected knowing. This is the domain of wisdom that we all naturally possess through our intuition and relationship with our personal experiences. People who value connected knowing are more important to me than tradition and dogma. I am looking for people who are open to learning from others and willing to confront themselves. That is what I find compelling, poignant and hauntingly beautiful.
Story-Wounded tellers-I welcome all dwellers.
Practitioners who have grown tired of the rigid dogma that is yogic tradition are invited to join me.
I welcome women who are tired of learning yoga from a masculine perspective and who want to return to their own feminine wisdom and divine feminine power.
I welcome individuals who feel creatively disabled or alive.
Womxn, queer folks, persons of color, & individuals left out of the conversation in yoga communities, I welcome you.
Human beings, I welcome you. I’m eager to hear your story.
