Bully was a name my brother gave to his dog. Now Bully was one of the most energetic dogs I´ve ever seen. My brother owned a few acres of land east of San Diego, and Bully would run up and down the fields after squirrels and birds. Bully was known to hunt coyotes in the night, while his family slept.

Now I don´t know if you know this but coyotes don´t come one at a time when they´re prowling around at night. They are available in packs of three, four, or five. Sometimes, these packs can grow up to three times the size of triple digits in Arizona. And Bully didn’t care. While everyone was asleep, we´d hear the familiar yip and yowl of the coyotes as they got closer and suddenly, Bully would be barking and growling and just making a terrific row.

But Bully wouldn´t be any where near the house. Bully would run over to the fields where the coyotes were coming across them and sneak up on them. He didn´t always get one but after a short scuffle those coyotes would be sure to avoid my brothers land in the future.

As time passed, my brother met a young girl and she moved in. Bully was what she thought Bully was. “too aggressive.” Bully was soon sent to the vet. “fixed.”

Now that’s got to be the most fucked up euphemism ever created. He was fine! He was not broken.

Bully stopped running around the yard chasing animals and gained a lot of weight. Soon, a group coyotes tried to cross the fields. Bully was soon an adult after being returned from the vet. Bully wasn’t so lucky against the coyotes that time. “inside dog.”

I don’t mean that this is bullshit. When my sister brought this up, I informed my brother that it was not a healthy way for me to get involved in a relationship. He needed to learn this lesson, regardless of the reason.

You will see that sometimes friends turn into enemies and other times, enemies become friends. You have to decide what you want for your life as you walk down the path.
